It's your average police procedural. In the book, we have some flashback scenes dating to the 17th century that are being copied. I can understand some of the reasons why the author chose to depict these scenes, but I didn't care for them. I thought they ruined the pacing of the book. Some descriptions of the murder scene can be grotesque.

Book was okay. I think the flashback scenes are what took away my attention from the book. If they didn't have them in, I think my reading experience would have been better. As well as some other scenes, that I don't think was needed. Book has potential but has some things that I were off for me, especially the end.
