This book did what I least expected it to do ... it gutted me completely!

I am pretty late to this series, but I'm glad I stumbled upon it and signed for the blog tour. After hearing so many great reviews for Tears of Tess, I quickly signed up for this blog tour and bought the first book in the series. I was so surprisingly intrigued and pulled in by Tears of Tess. It's an extremely dark set of books and probably the darkest that I've ever read. I finished Tears of Tess in one sitting, I read late into the night to finish it ... I simply couldn't put it down.

Everything that Tess went through is something to fear because it's happening today ... it's reality. And trying to put yourself in her shoes, it's unimaginable ... my head was racing with thoughts of "this could happen to ANYONE". And it scares the crap out of me, oddly, I liked having that aspect in the book. It's surreal and keeps you on the brink of undeniable fear.

Lately, I've been reading the books with BDSM in it. It's not my style, but it was a necessary element for this book. Both, Tess & Q yearned for it, what they needed from each other is what kept them whole. It seriously boggled me trying to wrap my mind around that concept, but it worked for them/this book. And because of it, I was able to understand their relationship and somewhat accept it, in a crazy-twisted way.

The element of surprise...s! YES, things happened that I didn't see happening! As I was reading, I was wondering what would happen next and boy, I didn't see that coming, even though the signs were all there. Apparently I suck at puzzles that. It sucks not being able to minimally share what happens, but what does will either break or make their relationship. And don't even get me started on the amount of times my heart was gutted out ... I cried, tears were just streaming down my face.

Q is one character out of all book characters that I have read about in the history of books characters, to surprise me the most. Especially towards the end, he was just unexpecting and I was in complete awe because of it. He's a dark menacing man, a savior (yeah, that threw me through a loop in Tears of Tess). He's not a flowers and chocolates type of guy, as much as he broods dominance, Tess could literally end his being in seconds. It really doesn't take much, he is wrapped around her fingers completely. But shhhhhh, he doesn't go public with that shit!

Tess ... sorry for the language, but holy fuck! She experienced really f*cked up stuff in this one, it's hard to imagine that some people have zero humanity left in them, it's sickening! But she proves to be strong and Q constantly tests that of her. But strength has limits and hers will be tested to the max in this one, will it break her?

I was surprised at myself for liking a series like this, it was extremely well-written. And I love books that pull you in from the start. And I'm glad it wasn't constant sex scene after sex scene, I'm such a fan of this book and series. I was curious to see how you were going to end this one and I vote, great decision! They both deserve true happiness and I can't wait to see all of that unfold!
