All the Feels

by Danika Stone

College freshman Liv is more than just a fan girl: The Starveil movies are her life ...and her last tangible connection to her deceased father. When her favourite character is killed off at the end of the last movie, Liv Just. Can't. Deal. Tired of sitting in her room sobbing, Liv decides to launch an online campaign to bring her beloved hero back to life by creating #SpartanSurvived, a call that ignites the fandom. Step one: Bribe her best friend, Xander, into helping by making costumes for his Steampunk cosplay. Step two: Balance her booming fandom life with school, parental disapproval, and her (nonexistent) love life. A trip to Dragon Con with Xander might be exactly what she needs to get away from it all ...and figure out what (and who!) she really wants.

I am not a fangirl, per se, but I have been witness to the fandoms, and I thought Stone did a great job bringing me into that world. Liv was a quirky introvert who made vids for her favorite sic-fi series, Starveil. After, the MC of the series is killed off, she wages an online campaign to essentially change the ending of the story. Her bestie, Xander, a steampunk loving, 19th century at heart gentleman, stands by Liv during this entire endeavor.

I really had a fun reading All the Feels. This book was very cute and at times, laugh out loud funny. I loved the relationship between Xander and Liv. I loved that Xander was so odd, but totally himself, and I especially liked being at Dragon Con. That part of the book made me regret not attending NYCC this weekend (SOB!), and got me more pumped about next year's cons.

Overall: Fun and quirky look at fandoms with an awesome friendship and sweet romance thrown in for good measure.
