I knew that a series about Winter Soldier was going to be on the heavy side. Still, they managed to surprise me. I love the direction they’re taking with Bucky – both his character and what he’s trying to do with himself. The real surprise came from the characters they’ve included in the series. I guess I wasn’t expecting anybody other than maybe an established character (like Captain America or something) or two to be in the series for any length of time.
Of the two characters introduced (that I think will be with us for the rest of this plot), one is a grayscale character, while the other is an antagonist. It’s an interesting choice. Having the younger grayscale character mirrors Bucky in odd ways, something I’m sure he’s become painfully aware of already. The antagonist…I have less of a solid idea about him, but I think that’ll be changing shortly.
While we don’t see any other established characters, we do get to hear them, or hear about them. So that’s something. It’s nice to know that Tony has a presence here, even if it is just as a support character (something his money and his tech is well suited for).
