Holy cover art, Batman!!
I love, love, LOVE Ellora’s Cave reads, especially when shifters are involved! The Lykos (wolf shifters) and Seronta (leopard shifters) are natural enemies. When Cal, a Seronta, and Jessie, a Lykos, realize they are destined mates, the story kind of takes on a Romeo and Juliet type of vibe. Can Cal and Jessie get past their natural instincts to kill each other in order to cement their mating?
I also liked how the wolves where the “bad guys” in this book. They seemed more predatory and animalistic even in their human form.
I didn’t like the fact that in the leopard pack, one male isn’t enough to sexually satisfy one female so the females take on multiple partners called beta mates. I could totally relate to Gar, Cal’s brother, as he struggles to deal with his very human feelings of inadequacy at not being enough for his mate.
The sex scenes were pretty steamy but the swapping partners thing just wasn’t for me.
