Finding God through the fires of life

My rating is 4.5 stars

This ain't my first rodeo book, yet I don't remember ever seeing a bond between the livestock and their owners like the one Knox and his bulls have. Is there such a thing as a bull-whisperer? The care and concern he had, not because they were valuable, but because he just loved them, was so very touching to me, There were several interactions he had with them that were very tender and sweet!

I have to say that Knox is high on the list of my favorite heroes of all time. His struggle to see himself as Jesus does, his deep and abiding love for his family, his strong, steady, protectiveness, and the way he wasn't afraid to say what he thought combined to make me like him more and more. I appreciated that he made mistakes and wrong judgements as well, keeping him realistic.

Suspense and action filled the moments that weren't the swoony romantic ones. From bombs to stalkers to chasing down bad guys - it was the kind of story I have come to expect from Susan May Warren. I loved when Knox and Tate took the matter into their own hands, not waiting for someone else to solve the case.

With Kelsey's singing, this story was filled with songs. I noticed that this was the case in the Montana Rescue series as well and think it is neat how the author writes the lyrics as well as the stories. I am sure it is nothing like the tune she had in mind, but as I read the touching lyrics, I was singing them in my mind. . .

As with the other series Susan May Warren has written, these books will all be very intertwined. Though this story belongs to Knox and Kelsey, Tate had a major role and it is quite clear the direction his story will take. Several of the characters we know and love from the Montana Rescue series had appearances here, including Ruben, their brother, Ben King, the Country singer, and others. If you haven't read that series you won't be lost here but it is certainly one worth reading as well.
