Princess Mia by Meg Cabot

Princess Mia (Princess Diaries, #9)

by Meg Cabot

A princess on her own . . .

Mia has been invited to speak at a gala for Domina Rei, an elite society of powerful businesswomen. But what could she possibly have to say? Now that Michael has broken things off, Mia can barely get out of bed, and her parents are making her see a "therapist." School, where Lilly still refuses to speak to her and Lana suddenly wants to be bff, is a total nightmare. Even J.P.'s efforts to cheer Mia up (he's being really sweet!) aren't helping. What's a royal to do?

Just when things couldn't get worse, Mia uncovers an old family secret, a long-forgotten diary of a teenage princess of Genovia. It could be just the thing to help Mia write her speech--but it might also change the fate of the Renaldos forever.

To the Nines kicks off where Royal Scandal ended. Mia and Michael have broken up, Lily isn't talking to Mia and Mia cannot find the will to get out of bed. How is she going to come up with a speech for the Domina Rei gala, an elite group of powerful and successful women.

♛ Mia's voice is more mature in To the Nines and I'm living for it! It's so awesome to see Mia finally standing up for herself and her beliefs.
♛ Mia's perception of Lana changes in To the Nines. Lana becomes nicer and she isn't as terrible as I thought. She's hilarious and fun.
♛ I might not like Lily, but I understand her anger towards Mia. Lily loved J.P. and seeing Mia and J.P. going out together after J.P. broke up with her is quite painful.
♛ J.P. is so shady. He pulls moves on Mia right after he dumps Lily and Mia is so naive and oblivious about it. He also talks down about Lily in a bid to make Mia feel better. He's such a jerk-face!
♛ JP + Mia = HELL NO!!!
♛ Tina Hakim Baba is a sweetheart.
♛ It's so surprising that out of all the people in the world, Boris is the one that comes through for Mia in the end. Although, Michael did tell him to keep an eye out for her.
♛ I like the subplot involving Kenny.
AND THAT ENDING!!! I don't know what the hell is going to happen in Genovia, but whatever it is, I'm so ready. (I'm happy that I forgot about this plot point because I was so surprised when it happened.)
"I'm not positive. We'll have to check with seismologists worldwide. But I truly think at that moment, hell actually froze over." (Mia Thermopolis)
