I like my teeth where they are…thanks.

It’s 11:00 am on a Tuesday morning and I feel like I should have a smoke and shot of whiskey. I’m feeling all kinds of tough and a little grittier than I was feeling 2 hours ago when I told my friend Lana that Soulless wasn’t as gritty as the rest of the books in the series. Yep…I’m eating those words. Luckily I have all my teeth still, not like some of those poor bikie people. I mean seriously, you go to the dentist they pull out a tooth, and I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m laid up for a day…and expect sympathy and attention for it. These toughies after getting tortured and hurt, spit out the blood then get on their bike or in their car and save the day. Absolute kudos to you, bikies and tough guys and gals. I like my teeth taken out in a sterile environment, with hubby waiting in the reception to drive me home and coddle me. I’ll leave it to the experts.

Soulless was the latest installment in the King series. I was cruising along thinking that everything was going along smoothly (too smoothly) and that we were going to actually get hearts and flowers in this one. I should have known better. I’m not naive by any means and I was bracing for the gritty to start, but it just took a bit longer to get there than I thought it would and it seriously ALL came at once. With a crash (into someone’s chest)…yank (a wee bit of torture)…pop (a blood vessel in Bear’s forehead)…scream (someone’s got to hear it)…babble (psycho chicken on the loose). In the end, it was all a little Braveheart -

”We are lawless. We are free. We are FAMILY.”

Nothing wrong with that, but I’d probably prefer the blue war paint than the blood.

I can now cross reading gritty books from my list. Soulless was an awesome conclusion to Bear and Ti’s story. I’ve been entertained by the King series and loved meeting all the different types of characters. I enjoyed the ride, peaked into their lives and can confidently say that the bikie life is not for me. This is a love story with devoted couples who would die for each other and that part of the story was everything a love story should be. Will I go back for more? Depends on… the cover…the storyline…the hype surrounding it…how much cheating/what kind of cheating/who’s doing the cheating (notice I just expect it)… and… THE AUTHOR!! T.M. Frazier may be able to convert me. I like her style.

I received a complimentary ARC of Soulless for an honest review.
