I don’t know how to begin explaining Eruption without giving anything away. The first four chapters were kind of dragging for me, the reason being that there wasn’t much dialogue, mostly focusing on the MC’s thoughts. I skimmed through a few paragraphs because it really felt boring to me. The story starts picking up the pace a bit after Corey and Jace figure something out. The images would have time stamps but it wasn’t your average type of time stamps. They were codes that I actually found fascinating because they needed a certain book in order to figure out these codes.
The story keeps on going of how Jace and Corey try to figure out why they have this tablet and why did their future selves sent it back to them. All the while, Jace gets offered the position of being the assistant to Damien and Jace can’t help the butterflies she gets in her stomach when she is with Damien.
The part I really found amazing was that Corey and Jace would communicate through INSTAGRAM. Corey would post a picture and the caption was somehow related to whatever they needed to find. It was well-thought and now I read into everything I see on Instagram…yeah.
For being a debut novel, I think it was well-written with a good story-line. I really would have preferred if the story had more action to it because when I went into it, that’s what I was expecting. Still, it was a good story that I think many readers will enjoy :)
