I’ve been obsessed with this series because of its announced anime for over a year before it even came out just because of the gorgeous visuals. The anime came out and it’s so far a very pleasant experience for me so why not give a chance to the Light Novel that I was convinced not to read before the anime came out?

───────────────────

At this point it’s safe to say that the anime is starting in a completely different direction than the light novel but I’m not here to compare between them. Having the concept of this series be about delivering letters was an enjoyable thing for me just for the sake of how difficult some of them are to write, someone like Violet’s existence surely makes the act easier but the rewarding thing about this series is the invoked emotions from this entire activity. Love is a very huge emotion (be it familial or not), it rarely is a solitary one as well and to me Akatsuki Kana delivered that in full with the six short stories she had us experience with Violet.

The people she met and the reasons she even wrote these letters ranges from heartwarming to bittersweet to a little screwed which just makes me excited to see where we’ll end up next time. I think one of the reasons why that approach was interesting, other than emotional value of each story I mean, is because it gave me the chance to look at their world in a bigger view. If we’re going to a new location we’ve yet to see, Akatsuki Kana will spend a few pages describing the area in general, the specific location Violet will be going to and if the need should arise she’ll also be talking about the natives’ occupations. Innovative? Not really, but interesting nonetheless.

If I’m talking background information about Violet then it’s not actually something that will be immediately given since her experiences are what is prioritized in this novel. She has a very specific something about her that makes these experiences, learning ones than just something that she should cherish either way. Since the book is a collection of stories, it’s obvious that not all of them will be very entertaining so if had to choose my favourite one and my least favourite one, then the first position will be fulfilled with chapter 2, while the second position is to be filled with the story from chapter 5.

Before I read any book, I like to read the chapter titles since they might excite me about an upcoming event later on which I did once again with this book. That being said it felt a little weird that I actually got a big lengthy chapter about Violet’s background and her specific situation, since the previous chapters led me to believe that we’re continuing like that till the very end. In the end though, it was a very interesting thing to read for me, I’ve been wondering about a few things while watching the anime and through my journey in this book which got somewhat answered in that chapter.

The illustrations in the book are just an added bonus despite how so very few they are though. Tbh this book is very easily to spoil since the stories are just standalones so far, which is why I think it’s best to end it here and move on to my next read 🙃
