Oh .. My ... Lanta! What a hot and completely engaging read this one turned out to be. I was supposed to read this book earlier in June, but obviously, I failed. I don't normally read taboo books, but when I do, I'm quite selective about this one. However, age gaps are the one taboo topics that I don't mind reading about. To me, they're not really a big deal. But when it's your dad's best friend, there's bound to be trouble. I never expected to find myself completely hooked with Kandy and Cane's story, but Williams does a phenomenal job with keeping her readers constantly wanting more. Of course, I'm a little bummed out this wasn't standalone, but we get more Cane, so you definitely won't see me complaining about that.

Where do I even begin with my review!? The one character who surprised me the most and found myself loving so much was Kandy. I was totally expecting this angsty, immature teenager, but she was definitely bordering the line with being this young woman that I didn't find immature at all. Having Cane in her life since she was a child, she always had this crush on him that just grew into something so much more as she got older. The chemistry is definitely there between these two and now that's she almost 19 and soon to be leaving for college, there's no one more that she wants than Cane. Even if it's completely wrong and that he could lose his best friend if Kandy's dad finds out. *dun dun dunnnn* the suspense will literally be killing you!

No matter how hard he tries or even tries to bring another woman into the mix to hopefully distract him, nothing works. Kandy is everywhere and she has easily become someone he can't escape from. Cane turned out to be quite the multi-layered man that I had so many questions about especially dealing with his past. And more of how he became the man that he is today. But holy sheesh, these two are absolutely hot together, there's no denying that one bit. The steamiest scenes for days!

Not only is the storyline flawless and just pure brilliance, Kandy and Cane are strong and well-developed characters, which made this book extremely easy to devour. I am so invested in these two and I'm glad the next one will be released fairly soon. After that cliffhanger ending, I'm sooo curious to see where the next book will take us! I love this series so much and Shanora, you have just gained a new fan!
