What an enjoyable first read from this author it turned out to be! I thought this was going to be a bit more suspenseful, but it didn't stop me from devouring Jake and Mia's story. These two were absolutely scorching when they were together. It was a bit of a slow burn for them to finally be together, but it was evident from the very moment they met, that it was only a matter of time.
I felt absolutely horrible for Mia and the circumstances she was brought under. With an abusive ex-husband who she met as a teen, he constantly planted seeds in her mind to make him out like he was a decent person. But he had major ulterior motives when it came to Mia and this huge empire she would have to take over when she was of age. Running away and storming into Jake's life was definitely one of the best things to happen to her. I found her so strong already because she realized that she needed to get herself out of a bad situation. But it was tough because she'd essentially be living a life constantly looking over her shoulder.
Right from the very beginning, I knew there was so much more that we didn't know about Mia and even Jake figured out too. And rather quickly might I add. He was completely lost under her spell and he made it his goal to get this courageous and beautiful woman to fully trust him.
I never been so happy for a dual POV than I was with Touching Sin. Reading Jake's thoughts was something I definitely wasn't expecting, he was so different than I thought he would be. He has such a gentle soul, but still emits this ferocity and probably someone you'd never want on your bad side. I loved how persistent he was towards Mia, he would never give up on her. He definitely made it his life mission to get her to open up to him.
Their relationship definitely took time. Mia hasn't known love in her life and the one she thought she did love, did a 180 on her and completely shattered her world. Mia's a little broken and has walls built up around her heart. Trust doesn't come easy if even she does know that Jake would do anything to protect it. A man with that kind of patience is a keeper! But beyond all that, Mia is a fighter and she'll hold her ground in any situation. Shoot, I wouldn't want her on my bad side either.
Seriously, what a story to read and definitely won't be my last from this author. I did feel like it lulled a bit in the middle, but it quickly picked up towards the end with some twists and turns I didn't exactly see coming. The story just unfolds even more, but ties rather nicely by the end. Definitely wasn't disappointed!
**trigger warning, Mia does recall on what happened to her in the past, but the actual scene is not played out in Touching Sin**
