I received this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
I'm really loving this series! The first book concentrated mostly on witches and vampires, while this book concentrated on witches and werewolves. There was still a lot of vampire moments, but they weren't as prominent in some ways as the previous book.
I sort of liked Maven in the last book, but you don't really get to know her well. She played a bigger part in this one, and I really ended up liking her. I also love how Lex and Quinn's relationship is going.
Simon and Lily are central characters again as they try to help Lex figure out what has been awakened and is preying on people. Simon jolted up on caffeine and geeking out about the mystery made me laugh out loud.
Besides the vampires, werewolves and witches, there were also ghosts introduced. Some of them were sad, some scary, and others were just strange.
I like how much research the author obviously puts into her books. Everything makes sense and sounds plausible. There's no "it's magic" explanation when something falls too far into the crazy side of things. Because it never actually falls. Everything that happens in the book has a use and reason to be there.
This is quickly turning into one of my favorite series, and I hope there will be many more books to come. If you haven't read these books yet, you need to do so.
