I am not generally into the habit of reading books about dead spouses returning to help their other half get through the grieving process. Why, you ask? Frankly I find these type of stories clichéd and somewhat creepy. Yea! I know it sounds strange from someone who loves the paranormal genre. However, there was something about this book that just kept calling to me to give it a chance.

If You Believe was an emotional read. It was heart wrenching and it brought tears to my eyes. Although Jack is a ghost I could feel his pain and anguish as he tried to help Melody move on and to take a second chance on love. He is trying to find the man he thinks would be perfect for Melody but at the same time he is unable to let go. The method chosen to achieve this purpose involved him returning as someone that she would not recognize. What followed is a series of mishaps that had me laughing one minute and crying the next. Will Jack achieve his goal of finding someone for Melody? Will he be able to stand by and watch her fall in love again?

Melody was not interested in moving on. She believed that moving on would mean that she would be betraying Jack. This attitude helped to make Jack’s work more difficult than he had expected. It’s easy to relate to Melody as losing someone is never easy to get over.

This was a sweet and adorable read. I felt compelled to keep turning the pages as I wanted to see the outcome. If you love holiday romance and you are looking for something light and entertaining then If You Believe would be perfect for you.
