The Birthday List by Devney Perry

The Birthday List (Maysen Jar, #1)

by Devney Perry

From USA Today Bestselling Author Devney Perry comes a small town, second chance at love romance.

Poppy Maysen carries a journal in her purse. Its pages were filled long ago by a man who craved adventure, lived life to the fullest and never failed to make her laugh. The journal is his birthday list—one she vows to complete.

She’ll do the things he wanted to do most. Because maybe, just maybe, if she can finish his list, she can start to live again.

Poppy expects going through the birthday list will be hard. She expects it to hurt. But what she doesn’t expect is Cole. Could the man who watched her heart shatter be the one to put it back together again?

Let me tell you, Devney Perry does a fantastic job writing contemporary romance, after reading and loving her Jamison Valley series, I was beyond ready for her next book. And it wasn't too long when The Birthday List came about. The synopsis had me intrigued on what kind of journey it would take Poppy on and once you make your way through Poppy and Cole's story, you can't help but fall in love with the both of them. Devney Perry has a way of writing stories that you'll always remember. If you're already a fan of hers, prepare yourselves to fall in love with Poppy and Cole stories, I'm sure Cole will make everyone's book boyfriend list.

How would I describe Poppy? She's definitely a character that I admired so much for her kind heart, perseverance, and strength. Tackling her husband's birthday list was key to helping her move on and after 5 years, I think it was more than time for her to check off every single one of them. That's the one thing that I loved about the list, every objective had a great story behind it, shows her carrying through and never giving up. And I think little by little, it helped her heal and move on by the end, but always keeping her deceased husband's memory alive. And the person who was constantly by her side and completely patient with her was Cole.
