And we are back! My new favourite crime-fighting duo are here again. Set 6 months after the first book, we have a nice easy routine for the duo. However, things are about to change with two things.

We have the introduction of Wolfe, a new deputy, someone from Kane’s past, which instantly distresses Jenna, but more pressing….a new serial killer, and this one ramps up quick!

It is the season for the Cowboys and the Rodeo and the dance! All the girls want to go so they can see Lucky and Storm, the infamous hot, sweaty cowboys! But one morning, two young boys discover a body of a young girl, Felicity Parker, murdered in a horrific way with flowers laid at her feet. Just as we try to get our heads around this murder to why they would do this. Terror strikes again and there is another one! WHAT THE HELL MAN!

You are on edge until the murders have been resolved. All of them are linked and whilst investigating we get some chilling subplot brought to light -sadistic in a different way.

I loved that Alton and Kane have now cleared the way with their pasts, thanks to Wolfe introduction. They will have things to address once the dust has settled and there were some really nice tender moments in this book. I do hope there is a potential romance in the future….but let us not rush things, both have baggage and I would not want anything to be ruined due to them being together. They have a too good partnership, but I still hope!

Again, like the last book, I did struggle with who the bad guy would be! I had my own list of suspects but boy oh boy was I was shocked when I learned who it was! DID…NOT…SEE…THAT…COMING!

Also, this book shows us how modern day techonology and gaming can affect things, and how easily it can be twisted against the user. Chilling to think of it!

I had one gripe with this book, and I mean absolutely no disrespect, but because I had the audiobook version of this book I could not get on with the narrator. The woman who did the first book was spot on, but the voices that this narrator put on just didn’t work for me, and sometimes it was hard to work out which character was meant to be speaking. Now don’t get me wrong she was not all bad but I did find some of the listening was dampened as I could not get on with her. Sorry, Ms Audiobook narrator. Hey, I am not perfect I have a perfectly annoying voice!

Moving on, I did really enjoy this book and I love having Alton and Kane back in action together solving crimes the way they are meant to, especially with their skill sets. A couple of hair-raising moments – thanks Ms Hood!, at the end. I loved we still had the old team of Raleigh (who needs more book time!) Maggie and Walters, but I thought Wolfe was definitely a strong addition to the team, and I warmed to him straight away. I think the three of them will be a force to be reckoned with in the next book and the series is just getting stronger!

10 days for the next audible credit!
