I've never really read novellas before, but this was a short, fun little interlude between books one and two in the Iron Fey series. Most of the important bits are included in book two so it isn't really necessary to read. But it was enjoyable just to spend a bit more time with these characters. It's kind of like the difference between knowing what happens in a book and reading it for yourself.

When you like the characters and it's as quick as this, it's definitely more fun to read it yourself.
