Prophecy Girl is one of those books that you can just fall into and fall in love with the characters! Samantha is a pretty amazing girl who has lived a pretty rough life and still managed to hold on to herself. She is put in situations that even adults would have issues with handling and she handles them well.

Violet, Sam's little sister, is a perfect blend of adorable and annoying, totally believable. The two of them have basically been together against the world for most of their lives and the bond between them is sweet.

Nick... he was the perfect hero. Funny, protective, smart, and cute. All wrapped into a fantabulous guy who is responsible in ways must of us couldn't even imagine.

The story is full of action and mystery with all of the paranormal twists and turns. I hate predictability so I loved that was always guessing. There some serious moments, most particularly the scenes of abuse, that added true depth to the story and helped shape Sam and Violet into they people that they were. But there was a lot of quirkiness, humor, and fun, too, that kept the sadness from being overwhelming.

The ending was a bit of a cliffhanger and totally and completely NOT what I had anticipated. Which leaves me waiting somewhat impatiently for the next book, due out sometime next year!
