The Billionaire Next Door (Billionaire Bad Boys, #2)

by Jessica Lemmon

A CINDERELLA STORY...

Rachel Foster had to find work somewhere after her ex-boyfriend screwed her over at the office. Enter: a position as a bartender at a local pub and an odd job as a dog sitter in Crane Tower, a high end apartment building downtown. Her goal is to gather enough money to finally get out on her own, so when her tall, handsome, and as she learns later-billionaire neighbor comes to her with a proposition, she can't turn him down.

In charge of Guest and Restaurant services, it's Tag Crane's job to be the life of the party, but his portion of the company is in serious trouble. When he takes on overhauling the pool bars for Crane hotels, he knows he's going to need an advisor. Not only is the gorgeous blonde in his building a smart savvy business woman turned bartender, but she's snared his attention in a way no other woman ever has. One steamy makeout session later, and she agrees to come with him to Hawaii. Score.

Rachel used to be intimidated by everything about Tag Crane, until several sultry nights where she learns she's just as capable of turning him inside out as he is her. But she knows a player is always a player, and soon her luxury lifestyle will turn back into a pumpkin. Since she first met him, she'd promised to tuck the moments with Tag into her heart and move on, but now that she's fallen for the billionaire prince, is she willing to walk away?

I loved Reece's story is The Billionaire Bachelor, so I dived into this book wondering how little brother Tag Crane would match up..!

Taggart 'Tag' Crane oversees the Guest and Restaurants Services within the Crane Hotels. A Role he takes seriously in his own laid back way. When the board members all but dismiss their previous concerns over losses within the hotel bars, Tag's determined to put right the discrepancies because he cares. When his neighbour's Great Dane starts uncharacteristically barking every evening and late into the night, he's forced to investigate because he can't work in such distracting conditions. So gets more than he bargained when he the person who answers the door isn't who he thinks it is.

When a regular customer at the Andromeda Club asks Rachel Foster to house sit his dog, she jumps at the opportunity because she needs the extra cash to look for a new place to live when the owner returns. What she didn't bargain for was a drop-dead gorgeous neighbour who isn't happy that the dog barks when she's not there. So when she answers the door, she's surprised to learn he isn't the dog's walker!

I admit that tattooed, long-haired men are not my type YET, Ms. Lemmon brought Tag to life in such a believable way that left me swooning. The muse she used as her 'Tag' (Brock O'Hurn) is a wonderful visual when thinking about this wild, rich giant of a man! Tag has an infectious 'joie de vivre' which he encourages others to go along with, aware that the women he hooks up with are more than happy to exploit his generosity. That's until he meets Rachel...a woman who isn't interested in his wealth. She's an independent, proud woman who's grateful for the opportunity Tag has given her, she wants a piece of him that money can't buy:
"She wants your heart."

The Billionaire Next Door is such an enjoyable read as the highly entertaining dialogue keeps the sparks flying between the two gorgeous protagonists as they navigate their way to happy future together. We are treated to a fun update about Reece and Merina's which doesn't require you to have read their book (but I heartily recommend you do) And lastly, we're introduced to Eli Crane, and I can't wait to read his story in The Billionaire Bastard because he's definitely a man with a story to tell!
