I can’t tell you how happy I am that I didn’t overlook this series. I very well may have, if I hadn’t spotted the author of the series. That would have been such a loss!
I’m really enjoying the twists on faerie that are being shown here. It’s sort of a darker version of Alice in Wonderland, but at the same time it isn’t – it has its own unique concept to support itself. Back to the similarities though, think about it. Girl displaced into a fantasy world, things are trying to kill her, oh and there’s a talking cat that she made a bargain with, that may or may not be trying to trick her. Sound familiar? I wonder what that would make the new character be? The Mad Hatter?
Art’s character is really well designed, as was the cost placed on her for her bargain with the faerie. It didn’t take away her motivation to go home, not exactly, at least. Still, she’s a driven and determined character, and I can see her completing any goal she sets her mind to. The question is, what sort of decision will she end up making in the long run? They’re already hinting at a choice being made here…
