I liked Hell on Wheels. I thought the plot was engaging and exciting, However, there are too many POVs which tended to slow down the action and the romantic developments in places. There's our main couple, Nate and Ali, of course. But there's also Nate's boss, Frank, his love interest, Becky, a CIA agent, and an evil senator. It was all a bit much, and I really could have done without those four extra perspectives since they didn't add much to the overall story. I need more of the tension between Nate and Ali (which there was already a lot of).
I quite liked Ali. She's not this delicate flower who just panics at any sign of trouble. She takes matters into her own hands. She knows that Nate and Grigg's place of employment isn't just a motorcycle shop, even if she doesn't know exactly what it is. But she keeps her head after she's attacked and goes straight there for help. Ali also doesn't just sit around, letting the men do all of the work. She's out there along with them and offers her help when she can. Sure, she does have a sensitive stomach, but she pushes through! I also liked how she didn't have some over-the-top, jumping to conclusions reaction when Nate's big secret comes out.
Hell on Wheels was a very enjoyable read. It was action packed, fast paced (for the most part), and I loved the tension between the love interests. I do wish that those erroneous POVs weren't there as they felt disruptive.
