This novella intrigued me. I haven't read the first book The Devil's Pride (Wild Beasts #1), so I did end up feeling a little bit lost. Nothing too drastic, but I would imagine we get a lot of the background info about everyone and the different clans, world building, etc. in that book. So even though techniquelly this can be read as a standalone I would suggest reading book one first for a more fuller experience.

That being said I did enjoy this one. Like I said it intrigued me. This author has a unique way of writing. I want to say it was flowery but it wasn't that exactly. I can't really explain it so I guess you'll just have to read it and see for yourself. *lol* The characters were interesting as was the bits of history and info about the different races. In fact, there is a glossary at the end that proved to be very informative.

Overall this one caught my attention enough that I will go back and read book one soon, as well as keep my eyes out for any future books in this series.
