Lyra Vansin is a vampire from Hexington Falls, a city within a pocket dimension where all creatures of the supernatural thrive.
She leads a team of gifted individuals, called the Nocturnal Squad, who's job is to protect the human realm from the evil that escapes from their world.
While not taking any major assignments, due to a job gone wrong almost a year prior, Lyra and her team are forced with a mission that has to do with a close friend who has gone rogue.
Etta Bettings, a powerful witch, escapes from Sacred Hills and have stolen a dangerous artifact called the Heart of Mare. A powerful stone that was used to create almost all of the supernatural beings that makes up their society.
All hands are on deck which means Lyra's team is forced with a new team member to help them with their mission and who is also an old flame of the vampire. A wizard named Mason Bettings.
Mason, a notorious trouble-maker in the past, is also the brother-in-law to Etta who they are trying to stop. He was also MIA for almost a year without a word to anyone. Especially to Lyra, who has been blaming herself to be the reason why because of her mistake for the outcome of a mission almost a year ago.
Lyra now has to get all of her feelings in check and keep her team from being easily distracted by nonsense while trying to save a dear friend from causing chaos in both their world and the humans.
Did I mention that she's also training a rookie who may have seen too many cop movies? What can go wrong?
