Defenders of the Light
2 primary works
Book 1
Historian Nora Zvezda thought she had learned all there was to know about Greek mythology, but nothing could have prepared her for a world of hidden magic lurking in the shadows of history.
While gunning for a promotion at The Chicago Field Museum, the discovery of two ancient Greek weapons might be her big break, but the artifacts are more than they seem.
Trying to uncover their secrets, Nora enlists the help of professor of ancient languages, Dr. Adam Scott, an undeniably handsome man of intrigue—and secrets, the biggest being his rank among a secret society of powerful sorcerers who’ve been in hiding since the days of the Greek empire. But the discovery of a world of myth and magic is the least of her issues.
Nora’s work with the mystical weapons draws the attention of the Shadow, a powerful force that feeds off fear and negative emotions. Now she finds herself thrust in the middle of a perilous, age-old war between good and evil.
Complicating things further is her undeniable desire for Adam and the feeling that he may be hiding more than his status as an immortal sorcerer. If Nora can’t balance her growing attraction for Adam and her newfound role as an unwilling warrior, the Shadow could destroy everything she loves.
Book 2
As a television reporter and double amputee, Odelle is used to having to prove herself. But fighting against the physical incarnation of evil for the fate of the world certainly raises the stakes.
When a magical, ancient crown surfaces in Chicago, Odelle joins forces with the Eteria, a secret society of immortal sorcerers from the Greek empire, to keep it from falling into the clutches of the evil Shadow. Odelle’s sister, Nora, has been fighting alongside the Eteria as a Warrior, but Odelle has avoided the sorcerers after one of their number hurt her pride by rejecting her romantic advances. However, Antony the Smith, the very sorcerer who spurned her despite his gentle disposition, is the one she’s stuck with.
As the Shadow threatens the city she loves, Odelle is determined to show that she can contribute to the fight, despite her inability to use the magical Light. When she sets out to prove to Antony he was wrong to reject her, and to herself that she has a place in this magical new world, the hunt for the crown heats up.
If Odelle and Antony can’t set aside their need to prove themselves and work together, the Shadow will gain the power to engulf all they love.
