MUPEC is a seven-year couse for pupils in primary schools. It has been written to take into account the Ministry of Education syllabus as well as the needs of pupils and teachers in Uganda. A wide variety of tasks and methods has been used to make the course interesting and motivating for all learners. The main objectives of MUPEC are: to show that language is a means of communication where pupils can express their feelings and opinions in speech as well as in writing; to enable pupils to see the relevance of learning english through situations and contexts familiar to them; to encourage all pupils, whether more or less able. to take part in lessons; to develop all four language skills equally; to encourage the pupils to want to carry on learning; and to show that learning a lanuage is fun. The Teacher's Book provides teachers with clear instructions on how to get the best out of the Pupil's book. There are detailed notes for each lesson as well as ideas on lesson prepration, creating your own materials, and dealing with more able and less able pupils.
