This series offers ideas for developing the skills within the Desirable Outcomes and also many of those covered by the Baseline Assessment schemes. Each book takes one particular skill and includes double-page spreads of activity ideas. The left-hand page provides a practical group activity using resources found in nurseries. This is supported with a photocopiable activity on the right-hand page which consolidates the learning and provides an assessment record of each child's individual achievement. The final page contains a photocopiable Skills Development Chart to place in each child's personal portfolio. The activities in this book aim to help young children to communicate effectively and to express themselves in conversations with adults, friends and within a group. The ideas should encourage the children to talk about their own experiences; to think logically about what they are saying; to use imaginations and to practice listening. Activities include talking about teddy's feelings, using finger puppets for role-play and listening to instructions.
