The excavation at St. Boniface Church, Papa Westray, Orkney was undertaken in May and June 1990 in response to the continuing threat of coastal erosion of the exposed cliff-section adjacent to the church. This report traces the development of the settlement complex at St. Boniface church and describes the project design and its execution, against the archaeological and historical background to the site, and discussion and synthesis of its results.
