A Bear's Dream

On a snowy Alaskan mountain, bears are sleeping through the winter. Far, below, in the city, a child holds her teddy bear and wonders what the real bears dream about. The snowy fields become green meadows and twin bear cubs leave their cave for the first time. A year in their lives is evoked through the eyes of the little girl as, just like them, she goes paddling, fishing and berry picking. This magical journey into the world of bears is evoked in hypnotically lyrical verse and complemented by wonderfully atmospheric illustrations. We view the bears through the eyes of the girl and contrast her world with theirs, yet the perspective on bear life is a realistic one. AGE 4-8
