Aircraft Monograph
2 total works
An extraordinary comprehensive monograph of one of the most well-known American aircraft. The Chance Vought F4U Corsair was a carrier-capable fighter aircraft that saw service primarily in World War II, with some Japanese pilots declaring it the most formidable fighter of the war. It quickly gained the reputation for being the most capable fighter-bomber in production, and was also used by the Fleet Air Arm and the Royal New Zealand Air Force.
It contains the history of its design and development, as well as very detailed and numerous plans for modellers. Succesive chapters describe camouflage and markings of the planes on duty in USA, Great Britain, New Zealand and other countries. The books also includes detailed coverage of the service history of this aircraft. The whole book is illustrated with a great number of photos and colour plates showing Corsair camouflages. As usual the technical description is included.

The Hellcat, along with the F4U Corsair, were the primary USN fighters during the second half of World War II. The Hellcat was the first USN fighter designed following combat with the formidable Japanese Zero and proved to be the most successful aircraft in naval history.
The extensive monograph of this American fighter covers the whole story of the aircraft. Development chapter is followed by description of painting schemes and markings of British, American and other countries' Hellcats. Operational service is illustrated with a great number of photos - from first combats over Marcus, Howland, Baker and Wake, to the final victory and post-war period. Technical description and colour section complete the book. Several colour plates showing tail markings are noteworthy.
