There are interviews with participants in the original Congress of the People out of which the Freedom Charter emerged. The essays are by high profile UDF leaders who went on to be important ANC leaders in the 1990s - including 'Terror' Lekota, Popo Molefe, Steve Mshwete; as well as Archbishop Tutu and Beyers Naude. There is an introductory essay by Suttner and Cronin explaining the hugely important political rationale for the book as well as many photographs.
