Book 1
To encourage children to compare and contrast their own locality with the suburbs, this book uses activities, geographical tools such as mapwork and fieldwork, and examining of secondary sources of evidence. It is part of a series which identifies a type of settlement, and provides children living in a similar settlement with information on how to find out about their surrounding area. This book describes how suburbs have formed, how communities have developed there, and why people choose to live in suburban areas rather than in the inner city. People who live in suburban areas are met through their comments and case studies.
