The practical activities in this book break down the writing section of the English curriculum at Key Stage two into progressive learning chunks. It is vital that from an early age children are able to appreciate the real need for writing and the role writing plays in communication. Through this range of activities, children can experience a range of stimuli and practice writing in a variety of ways for different audiences. The progressive activities are organized into sections which look at language study, imaginative writing, non-fiction writing and persuasive writing. Within each section the activities are set in context and there is an emphasis placed on scope for extending and adapting activities to meet the needs of children's particular needs. Opportunities for both formative and summative assessments are also highlighted throughout, and the use of Information Technology is encouraged. Photocopiable worksheets are included which support many of the activities. This work is suitable for Key Stage Two and Scottish Levels C-E.
