A practical text founded on the theories and practices carried out in Victoria, Australia, over recent years as part of the "Schools of the Future" programme. The book should be of interest to practioners, administrators, scholars and researchers as well as the teacher training field. The authors take the view that schools pursuing effectiveness are doing so mostly in terms of cost and student outcome. It argues that this focus has been too narrow, and the time is ripe for looking at classrooms, rather than just the schools, as it is here that the greatest differences are to be made in improving and measuring student outcomes.
