The strong, sensual woman of Southern Italy is the predominant leitmotif of Dolce & Gabbana style. It is Domenico Dolce's native Sicily - the women in their ubiquitous black shawls, the men in their stereotypical white tank tops and peasant caps - that deeply influences his designs. This is a study of their provocative style, including corsets and petticoats, animal prints and patchwork, veils and peasant caps. In these everyday items of the Sicilian wardrobe, Dolce & Gabbana recognize a timeless expression of female sensuality.
