The first volume of three covering the last 15 years of British Rail chronicles in pictures the demise of the 'Deltics', the final years of the 'Corporate Blue' livery, the 'Rocket 150' celebrations, the mass withdrawal of Class 40s and the Wath electrics following the closure of the Woodhead route, threats to the Settle-Carlisle route and Marylebone station, and much more.
The middle volume of this trilogy based on John's earlier "Closely Observed Trains" covers the period of the GWR 150 celebrations, BR's claim that 'We're Getting There!', the demise of the Class 25s, 40s and 45s and the introduction of the 59s, 60s and 91s. Sectorisation and Network SouthEast arrived, and the Settle & Carlisle and Marylebone station won reprieves.
