Macmillan secondary mathematics
1 total work
This book forms part of the Macmillan Secondary Mathematics course, which has been written to correspond to the National Criteria for GCSE Mathematics examinations, and to the Mathematics National Curriculum assessment and testing framework. In particular the Y-stream books are for the use of pupils who are likely to take the higher level of the GCSE mathematics examination. Book 3Y contains some revision of topics covered in Books 1 and 2 of the series, which are intended to help consolidate, and further extend the skills which have already been used. Each chapter contains worked examples and sets of graded exercises. In addition there are many investigations. These have been used for different purposes perhaps to prepare for a topic, to extend skills learnt, as mini project work and as a further extension to the exercises. The three miscellaneous exercises, which include many past GCSE questions, will also provide for additional practice if needed. In terms of the National Curriculum the work covered in Book 3Y corresponds to levels 6-8, although much of level 5 is revised and by the nature of the subject the bounds are not absolute.
Earlier topics are covered and where it was felt appropriate a few later topics have been introduced.
