The author spent part of her childhood at Troo, with her parents Jane and Geoffrey Grigson. Troo is a small village north of the River Loir in France, and the house is a cave-dwelling often found in that part of France. In 1991, Sophie returned to Troo after an asence of five years and rediscovered not only the village and the friends the Grigsons had made, but the wonderful food and markets. This is the story of her return, and rediscovery of the local markets and fetes, the regional food and a selection of recipies.
