Cook made three historic voyages between 1768 and 1780, discovering and claiming Australia and New Zealand for the British Empire. He also discovered Hawaii, charted North America's St. Lawrence River, and pioneered advances in the science of ocean navigation. This volume includes maps, scenes of the peoples and places of explored lands, cross-section illustrations of ships, and photos of shipboard instruments and weapons that were used in Cook's era.
