100 Literacy Homework Activities for Year 2
by David Waugh, Kathleen Taylor, and Wendy Jolliffe
Published 20 April 2001
100 LITERACY HOMEWORK ACTIVITIES is a series of 6 photocopiable teachers' resource books, one for each Year 1 to 6. Each book draws on the 100 hours in the associated '100 Literacy Hours' book to provide varied and enjoyable homework activities that build on the classroom work and that can be used by both customers of '100 Literacy Hours' and non-customers. The activities cover the appropriate range of word, sentence and text level skills and each photocopiable page includes a note to the parent/helper about the purpose of the activity and how to help the child if he/she gets stuck. The activities are accompanied by brief teachers' notes advising on: the objective of the work, the classroom lesson context to which it is appropriate (for teachers using the book as a stand-alone resource), setting the homework and what to do with it when the children bring it back. 100 LITERACY HOMEWORK ACTIVITIES FOR YEAR 2 provide term-by-term homework activities relevant to the National Literacy Framework for Year 2 and appropriate to the units in '100 Literacy Hours forYear 2'.
* Linked to 100 lessons of the highly successful '100 Literacy Hours' (but will stand alone) - a ready market * Supports key word-, sentence- and text-level skills * Grids matching activities to Literacy Framework and to '100 Literacy Hours' * Encourages parental involvement by providing parental support * Excellent way of developing home/school links.
