Preacher of Death

by Martin King and Marc Breault

Published 27 May 1993
This is the story of the self-professed Son of God, who became the leader of sect known as the "Branch Davidians". Rarely has religious fervour ended so tragically with so much paranoia and annihilation. Martin King is one of the few outsiders who spent time with David Koresh in the Waco compound. In this first-hand account, King tells how Vernon Howell - a ninth-grade drop-out - became David Koresh, leader of a world-wide religious cult which supplied him with new members, money and 20 "wives" aged 12 to 70. The book also reveals the rise of David Koresh through the eyes of ex-cult member, Marc Breault. He watched the possessed preacher transform from a passionate leader into a dangerous psychopath with a passion for under-age girls and high-powered weapons.
