Each double page spread has an introductory section providing a phonic focus followed by a number of activities requiring active participation. Each phoneme is introduced by large outline letters, used for reinforcing its sound value and for teaching and practicing its information and writing. This is followed by a key word/words, embodying the specific phonic focus. A simple alliterative sentence or rhyme conceptualizes the focus phoneme in a meaningful way - the sentence is accompanied by a picture, offering pictorial support for discussion. A number and variety of activities follow which take a "gamsey" approach. The laminated sheets enable children to try out things using the trial and error approach, since inappropriate responses can just simply be wiped off.
