Wicked Gods

My name is Morgan Caine, and I beat people up for a living. Trolls, nightwalkers, spellcasters, imps--you name it, I've probably kicked at least one of their kind in the teeth.

Unfortunately for me, this isn't as cool as it sounds. I'm stuck in a world that almost looks like ours, but it's different. Very different. Alfheimr is ruled by the memory of dead gods, and chaos is the only order here. It doesn't help that the land is dying, because the magic that fuels it has all but disappeared. I got so comfortable in a routine that enabled me to survive that I stopped looking for a way out.

For three long years.

Until another human suffers the same fate I did. Together with an imp I know better than to trust, she lures me on a dangerous journey with the only promise she knows I can't turn down: a chance to go back home.

Off we go into the unknown, a world designed to kill the weak, fragile humans.

We have to find the dragon god--a mentally unstable man who hides in a mountain full of gold on the other side of the world. No one has ever made it that far, and if by some miracle we do, I'm pretty sure he'll kill us before he'll save us.

To feel hope again is everything, even when pretty much every person we come across tries to kill us. I'll tell you this: I am not about to die at the hands of monsters, even if I have to become one myself. As long as I'm breathing, there will always be a chance.

Wicked Magic

When I finally made it back home, I swore I would never set foot on Alfheimr again, no matter what.

Then things got a little...complicated. Millie and Sim can also be very convincing, so before long, I found myself in front of the dragon god once again.

The spear of the Valkyries that came to life at the touch of my hand is brimming with magic—and it isn't the only one. Now more than ever people believe that magic will come back to Alfheimr. This awful world can survive, and they want me to help bring it to life.

The masters want us to search for the one thing that is more powerful than the weapons of the Valkyries: the Eye of a dead god. I agree to find it, only because I'm going to need a lot of power to kill the masters, free the poor human souls trapped in that world, and be done with all of it for good.

That's until I find out what the Eye can really do. It's no longer a question of if I can find it. I have to, or we will all lose everything. With the help of Millie, Sim and the dragon god who's kiss is just as dangerous as his magic, I just might get there in one piece. And when I do, I will not rest until all of Alfheimr goes to hell, right where it belongs.
