If I had a dog

Stanley the dog tries his hand at water-skiing and other seaside activities with his friend the cat. Not content with just sporting activities, he also has a healthy interest in his owner's ice cream, just as any smart dog would do in the hot sun.
Wouldn't it be nice just once if your dog could drive you out for a walk in the country? Well, Stanley not only drives cars, but trains, tractors, fire engines and much more. After whizzing through a series of adventures, in the end Stanley prefers to be chauffered himself.
Stanley the dog executes the skills bestowed upon him with the style and finesse of a truly professional show-off. Stanley has a zest for life that would put most humans to shame. He takes on human characteristics but at the end of the book the reader is reminded that he is still a dog.
Stanley works through a series of professions faster than the jockey he is portraying in one of his pictures. There is no stopping him in his quest for the perfect job (carpenter, conductor, detective and many more). As usual, Stanley reverts to the easy option - to do nothing at all.
