An Inland Voyage

by Robert Louis Stevenson

Published December 1941
As a young man, Robert Louis Stevenson made a canoe voyage along the rivers and canals of Belgium and Northern France, continuing on foot in the Loire region. This is his little-known account of that voyage, with a glimpse of the changing scenery along the route captured in the watercolour and ink illustrations. For today's traveller retracing the journey, the route has been divided into four itineraries, each with maps, recommended hotels and places of interest, as part of a practical guide compiled by the writer Andrew Sanger.
