Relationships and Resources

Based on a qualitative, longitudinal study of the lives of a group of young people with divorced parents, Moving On examines the multiple resources (social, emotional and material) that they use in managing changes and continuities in their lives. The book draws on detailed family case histories spanning an eight year period and explores 'who' and 'what' matters to young people of varied ages and backgrounds as they navigate changes. Many aspects of family life and its contextualization in wider kinship and community groups, as well as in the broader society are covered. As such, the book sheds light on the dynamics of risk and resiliency and offers a radical reassessment of the place occupied by parental divorce in the lives of young people.
