On the 10 May 1940 the Phoney War ended as the German Army attacked France, Belgium and the Netherlands. In less than 50 days all three nations were overwhelmed. Photographs and maps identify key battle sites and there are artworks of the uniforms and weapons of the armies that fought.
The Boer War devastated the South African economy and left a legacy of bitterness. It saw the invention of the concentration camp and a new style of guerilla warfare. This history of the campaign includes artwork of weapons and uniforms, with contemporary photography from the period.
