This is a complete overview of the works of Herman Hertzberger, a key figure in post-war architecture, and influential teacher. Aiming to offer a meaningful frame to the users, Hertzberger has built schools and kindergartens in the spirit of pedagogic reform, such as the Montessori School in Delft, and homes for the elderly and housing units, such as the IBA block in Berlin. His reputation achieved international status with the Centraal Beheer in Apeldorn, the headquarters of an insurance company, featuring islands of offices connecting a public mall. This volume includes all Hertzberger's important buildings and projects from the 1960s to more recent work, such as the Chasse Theatre in Breda, opened in 1995, and the projects for Cologne (Media Park) and Berlin.
