2010 sees the 70th anniversary of the evacuation of the allies at Dunkirk. The lives of 338,226 men were saved in 861 vessels. This story of one of the young men who aided in the evacuation is not heard for the very first time. Joe Read was only 15 years old wen he crossed the channel in his father's lifeboat, Brittanic, and braved artillery fire and German bombing to rescue British Expeditionary Forces.
