Book 4
This is a book containing activities to help teachers of Key Stage two mathematics assess and improve children's understanding of multiplication and division. The activities cover exploring and recording patterns in multiplication and division, multiplication as repeated addition, division as repeated subtraction, counting in steps and linking this to multiplication and division.
looking at multiplication and division, this is part of a series which aims to help primary school teachers assess children's understanding of key concepts, and their ability to use and apply maths. The different activities each come with key questions to ask, responses to look for and how to further support or extend the children's work. The activities in this book cover: reinforcing multiplication facts to 10 x 10; multiplication and division as inverse operations; and multiplying and dividing with larger numbers and leading to decimals. This book comes with a colour, A4, wipe-clean "postermat". Designs include game boards, picture stimuli and classroom maths resources. Diagnostic and "double check" assessment activites, reinforcement activities, and enrichment activities are included. The aim of this is to support formative and summative assessment, develop understanding and confidence, and consolidate and extend learning. This series is broadly linked to the National Curriculum levels, and the relevance to Scottish Guidelines and NI Curriculum for Maths is included.
