Book 5
The creation of the new town of Milton Keynes provided an opportunity to study an extensive rural landscape before it was changed irreversibly. This book brings together the results of 20 years of excavation, fieldwork and documentary studies carried out by the Milton Keynes Development Corporation in advance of the development of the new town. It paints a picture of the changing landscape of the area from prehistoric times to the early 20th century.

The first volume "Excavations and Building Materials" gives a full record of the excavations, including roundhouses, villa, temple and cemeteries and an analysis of the tiles, roofing materials, architectural stonework, wall plaster, mosaics and tesserae. The second volume "Finds and Environmental Evidence" reports on the coins, artefacts and pottery as well as animal, human and plant remains, mollusca, wood, charcoal and 14C determinations.
Book 9
This volume describes the excavation and field survey of sites of different periods in the Caldecotte area in south-east Milton Keynes. The sites include Roman pottery kilns, a medieval moated site, brick kilns, and a post-medieval water mill. Each feature is discussed and there are reports on the artefacts, building materials, coins, pottery, and environmental evidence. This is the ninth report from the work of the Milton Keynes Archaeological Unit. It provides a study of the historic landscape of the Ousel Valley to complement the Unit's other work at Great Linford in the Ouse Valley and in the Shenley and Tattenhoe area.
